It’s being billed as an opportunity to inspire collaboration among the next generation of business leaders, entrepreneurs, and community champions in North Bay.

It’s called #FiftyTwoCoffees.

Chair of the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals committee Bobby Ray says the initiative involves over 80 people under the age of 40 meeting someone new, one-on-one and face-to-face, every week this year.

He says often people say it’s not what you know, but who you know to get ahead in communities our size.

“If we could connect people to one person every week for a year, 52 people, that’s a lot of ‘who do I knows’ that may help spur your new business, or support your existing business, or find employment if you’re on a search,” Ray says.

There’s also a social media component with #FiftyTwoCoffees and those taking part in the meetings.

“Either you take a selfie or someone in the room can take a picture of you and then you post the story, who did you meet, where do they work, what do they offer and how do you contact this person if you’re looking for a product, service or experience they offer. It’s a bit of a referral program,” he adds.

The program launched today (Thursday) at Twiggs Coffee Roasters on McKeown Avenue.
