NEW opp police

Three West Nipissing residents are facing charges after the OPP’s Anti-Rackets Branch investigated allegations of financial irregularities involving the Municipality of West Nipissing.

In January, OPP received a request to conduct an independent investigation into dealings between the Municipality and a third-party contractor.

A 49 year old man and two 42 year old men were charged with Fraud Over $5,000, Fraud on Government, Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence and Uttering Forged Documents.

Earlier this year, the municipality said two managers were let go and a civil action was started against a local contractor.

The situation involved accounting irregularities within the public works department in West Nipissing.
