Nip Strike 2(File photo) People flew and drove across the country to join Nipissing faculty in a rally on the picket line Friday.

James Compton is the Vice President of the Canadian Association of University Teachers and he was one of the speakers at the rally.

Compton says the issues they are fighting for, including collegial governance and strong faculty complement, are important for universities to provide their teachings and research.

He also says these issues are not just local; universities around the country are facing the same problems.

He says even with the rain and high winds Friday morning, spirits were still pretty high.

Nipissing faculty have been on strike since Monday.
