Nip Strike 2

A mass union rally is planned for 12 noon today (Friday) at Monastery Road and College Drive, in support of striking faculty at Nipissing University.

Meantime, the Nipissing University Faculty Association has received a financial boost.

$1-million has been provided the Canadian Association of University Teachers Defence Fund to cover strike costs.

Executive Director David Robinson says the million dollars is an up front donation to cover expenses, but it does more than that.

The CAUT Defence Fund provides strike benefits to member associations while their members are engaged in a strike or lock-out and experiencing loss of salary.

Faculty at Nipissing University have been on strike since Monday morning.
