A North Bay resident is the new President of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM).

Roy Slack is on the board of directors of Cementation Americas and is a past-president of the company.

He was recognized at CIM’s annual general meeting in Montreal, beginning his one year term.

“I am very proud and passionate about the mining industry and getting involved in the CIM is a great way to channel that passion into support of our industry,” says Slack.

CIM is a not-for-profit organization that looks to create and share leading-edge knowledge, foster a connected and engaged mining community and expand awareness about the contributions of mining to society.

“I am very grateful to Cementation for their support of my work with the CIM,” Slack added.

Officials say the CIM is very active in the North Bay area through the Northern Gateway branch.

The branch is well known in the community and is supporting the upcoming mining week events in North Bay the week of May 13th this year.
