A group of local youth activists are joining a global strike today.

They’re raising awareness on climate change and what they call a lack of action against diverting a climate catastrophe.

The students, ages 12 and under, are skipping school later this morning to march from the North Bay Museum to City Hall (pictured) where they will meet with Mayor Al McDonald then hold a rally.

Youth activists in 125 countries are expected to hold events today.

Officials say the last global strike on March 16th saw more than 1.6 million young people in over 2,000 cities in 125 countries around the world take part.
