Six area infrastructure projects — amounting to 20 million dollars — have been nominated by the province for federal funding.

If approved by Ottawa, the provincial share would be $6 million.

The projects include McKeown Avenue four-laning in North Bay.

There’s also road reconstruction and rehabilitation projects in Mattawa, Chisholm, Nipissing First Nation, Mattawan Township and Powassan.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says the announcement is timely with the federal election later this year.

“The intake opened up in March, We’re ready to go now so the timing makes a lot of sense,” he says.

He says these projects will not funded by a third from each level of government.

“To the feds credit it’s heavily financed by Ottawa, the province steps in at a medium level and a smaller amount from municipalities,” Fedeli says.
