North Bay City Council has passed a motion calling on the mayor to thank the premier.

Last month, Premier Kathleen Wynne was in North Bay to take part at the ribbon cutting and tour of Ontario Northland’s Refurbishment and Repair Centre, which is involved in the upgrades and modernization for the Polar Bear Express.

The motion was brought forward by Councillor Mac Bain, who says the province and the premier have stepped up for North Bay and the ONTC and they should receive a letter of thanks.

Bain says Ontario Northland is doing much better and the government deserves credit.

He says it’s strong and doing work across the province and it’s only right that the community thanks the premier and the province for making an investment in the ONTC.

Bain also says the city sends letters quite often asking for support for various things but when we get support we don’t often send a letter of thanks.
