mobility scooters and power wheelchairs

City police are advising that mobility scooters and power wheelchairs (pictured above) are allowed to be used on sidewalks along with pedestrians and people using manual wheelchairs.

Police say they are also permitted on City bike paths.

They go on to say E-bikes and scooters, which are designed for recreational use rather than as a mobility aid for persons with a mobility impairment, are not to be used on the sidewalk.

North Bay Police are also warning about an ongoing “inheritance letter” scam that describes the recent death of a fictitious wealthy foreigner who shares the same last name.

Police say the letter tries to get people to provide personal information to cash in on the attractive inheritance, but ultimately fraudsters are going after the victim’s identity or money.
