There’s record snow depth in the North Bay area, with an average just over 21 cm.

That’s 10 cm higher than last year.

The Conservation Authority says the reading at it’s North Bay station is the highest since 2012, while it’s the highest in Corbeil since 1988 and the highest in Chisholm since 2007.

Water content in the snow is also more than double the average.

“The average snow depth for all sites is 21.2 cm (1507% normal) and average water equivalence is 30.7 mm (1175% normal),” said Kurtis Romanchuk NBMCA’s Water Resources Engineer (pictured).

The average snow depth was 11.1 cm and water equivalence was 12.3 mm for all sites in 2018.

Snow is measured for depth and water equivalence at three locations in the watershed.

Data for the season can be found on the NBMCA website at www.nbmca.ca.
