Community Living North Bay is celebrating their 65th anniversary with a free family fun day this weekend.

Sunday’s event goes from 11 am to 4 pm at the Callander Community Centre.

There’s free public skating at noon and a number of indoor and outdoor activities for all ages.

The event starts with the North Bay North Stars, North Bay Police Association and Nipissing Lakers playing a hockey game at 11 am at the Bill Barber Complex.

Officials say in the early 1950s, a group of parents who had a vision of a better quality of life for their children with intellectual disabilities met to discuss how this dream could become a reality.

Through the vision of these parents, they started an association which would have a tremendous impact on their community.

65 years later Community Living North Bay supports hundreds of people with intellectual disabilities and their families by providing a diverse range of inclusion-based services.
