Over the long weekend there were three fires confirmed in our area.

On October 10th a fire was located 11 kilometers northeast of the Town of Field.

This was a human-caused recreation fire and was put out on October 11th.

A second fire was reported a day later on the south shore of Marten Lake – 45 kilometers north of North Bay and this one was put out on October 12th.

These fires were both reported to be 0.1 hectares in size.

A 0.2 hectare fire was reported on October 8th, 25 kilometers south of North Bay.

It was put out the same day and officials say overall the current forest fire hazard is low for the region.
