Great news for the city of North Bay, it’s businesses and it’s residents; that’s how Mayor Al McDonald describes an upcoming event today (Wednesday) to mark the first Porter Airlines flight to and from North Bay.

There will be media, staff and dignitaries on hand at the Jack Garland Airport.

McDonald says this is a big asset for local businesses, to have Porter as a second carrier.

He says businesses have already said Porter Airlines is going to help them with bringing clients in and out of the city.

McDonald says there is also a tourism aspect to this.

He says Porter is giving North Bay a lot of advertising in major newspapers and on the radio in southern Ontario.

McDonald says the fact they can fly for $125 to Toronto it shows North Bay is open for business.

In July, it was announced that Porter Airlines will come to North Bay as a second airline carrier and today there will be an event to mark the first flight out of North Bay.
