With summer in full swing, Ontario Provincial Police are reminding people about various life saving equipment.

They say wear a personal floatation device when on the boat, don’t just have it’s close by.

OPP point out that seven of the eight boating fatality victims this year were not wearing a PFD.

As for off-road vehicles and bicycles, police say wear a helmet.

The stats show of the six fatal off-road vehicle incidents investigated by the OPP this year, three of the deceased were found not wearing a helmet.

Police say every cyclist under the age of 18 must wear an approved helmet.

For youths and children under 16 years of age, a parent or guardian must ensure their child wears a helmet every time they ride their bicycle.

Meantime, people in cars need to wear their seatbelts.

Lack of seat belt use has been linked to 20 OPP-investigated road fatalities so far this year.
