The electronic North Bay City Council meetings are going to continue for a while yet.

This week, council approved a motion to have zoom meetings until the end of the year as long as its okayed by the province in its impending legislation.

Deputy Mayor Tanya Vrebosch says it’s very untenable to meet in the usual way and follow all the safety protocols.

“Right now, we are not sure about where things are going with the safety of meeting so close together. If we were to meet and physical distance from each other you would only have two people on each side of the council table and others would have to wait outside the chambers,” she says.

Vrebosch says they will have the option to return to normal before the deadline.

Council is expected to get a report in November on the provincial situation.

The motion also applies to the city’s agencies, boards and commissions.
