Sunday is a big day for raising funds and awareness about breast cancer.

North Bay’s 12th annual CIBC Run For The Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run, taking place at the waterfront.

Having battled cancer herself, Honourary Survivor Mary Lynn Rockburn -Roy says she lost her daughter to cancer in September 2010.

She has a message for fellow survivors and those going through their own journey, “I live one day at a time and I live in the present moment. I bite into life, take in everything that I can. That’s how I get through my days.”

Overall, she says she’s honoured to be the Honourary Survivor, “to let all ladies know, you’re not alone, we’re all there behind you.”

Memorial Drive will be closed Sunday from 10:30 am until noon for the run.

$66,000 was raised at last year’s event and surpassed $1-million over the previous 11 events.
