heritage gardeners In 1945, the first gift of 100,000 Dutch tulip bulbs was sent to Canadians.

This was done as a symbol of appreciation for the role Canadian soldiers played in the liberation of the Netherlands during World War Two.

To mark the 70th Anniversary of that event, 140 Friendship Tulip Gardens will be distributed across Canada, including one in North Bay.

A ceremony in North Bay will take place on Wednesday, October 7 at 9:30 at the Waterfront Garden.
