A community survey is underway involving the North Bay and District Multicultural Centre.

It’s all about community perceptions.

Meg Ramore is the Local Immigration Partnership Coordinator with the North Bay Newcomer Network.

She says they’re looking to assess how well the community knows about them, whether it’s a real estate agent, service provider, employer or teacher, “so that if they come across a newcomer in the work that they do, or volunteer work, do they know enough to mention ‘hey, you know what, you should go visit the multicultural centre, because I’m sure they’ll be able to help you”.

There are a variety of Settlement Services the Centre provides, everything from helping newcomers in where to enrol kids in school, referrals on English as a Second Language, listings of where they can find housing or even pairing them with mentors if they’re preparing for their Canadian citizenship.
