Vic QP sept 2015Several local councils are voicing opposition to the sale of Hydro One and MPP Vic Fedeli delivered the message to Queen’s Park.

Fedeli says there’s a number of communities against the idea including North Bay, Mattawa, East Ferris, Bonfield, Chisholm, Mattawan Township and Papineau-Cameron.

He says they don’t believe Hydro One will be subject to scrutiny by Officers of the Legislature like the Ombudsman or Auditor General.

“They believe, Speaker, that this will result in higher hydro rates that families can’t afford.”

He goes on to say they also note that “the provincial government has no mandate from voters to sell any part of Hydro One.”

Fedeli says the councils are asking the province to “halt the sale of any part of Hydro One and maintain Hydro One as a public asset for the benefit of all Ontarians.
