Mark King

Councillor Mark King says he won’t be bringing any resolutions forward regarding the pay scale of Councillors, but he says someone else might.

King also says he would support having a group of citizens, not Councillors, take a look at remuneration and decide whether or not it’s fair.

King says he’s frustrated about attendance at committee meetings pointing out City Councillors haven’t received remuneration since it was cut out in 2003, while outlying members do.

King, who is also the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board chair, says it shows. He says he’s concerned about the ability of the city, which he says is the biggest funder of these groups, losing the opportunity to voice itself at these committees.

King also says he attends meetings that he isn’t required to as he wants to continue learning and he feels it’s important for Councillors to be involved in these committees.
