New Brew 2 A new microbrewery in North Bay is paying homage to a business that existed here 100 years ago.

New Ontario Brewing Co. has officially opened on Cassells and they are named after a company that provided the same type of business to the North Bay area.

Brew Master Mike Harrison says in 1915 the business on Lakeshore burned down and unfortunately never re-opened. But he says it’s up to them to now carry on the tradition.

Harrison says they come from mostly an amateur background. He says he had been home brewing for about ten years before they found something he thought they could market.

Harrison says they went to the Business Centre of Nipissing of Parry Sound and 16 months later they were able to open their doors. He says they have three styles; a blonde, an IPA and an extra strong bitter, which you can purchase by the glass or in a two-litre jug.
