snow plow(file photo) Less snow plowing on the weekends is one way the city could save money when it comes to its winter maintenance operations.

That was one topic of discussion involved with a report last night on Winter Maintenance Service Levels.

Chair of Engineering and Works Tanya Vrebosch says reducing those service levels was already something people didn’t agree with last year.

Vrebosch says they had $3.1-million in the budget for winter maintenance in the 2015 budget, and they have already spent about $2.6-million with November and December maintenance not yet paid for.

She says if residents or councillors have ideas on saving money or service levels they will need to speak up soon as budget talks begin next month.
