North Bay Police logoOver 5,400 calls for service came in for the North Bay Police during the months of June and July.

Deputy Chief Shawn Devine says in July alone they had over 300 more calls for service compared to July of 2014.

Among those calls were many related to drug issues and he says this keeps the Street Crime Unit constantly busy.

Devine says they’ve arrested a number of people from outside the city who are trafficking drugs into North Bay.

As well, there were 31 Break Enter and Theft charges laid over the months of June and July.

That’s just under the 38 laid in those two months a year ago.

Devine says, those number may seem high, but it is an unfortunate growing trend as people are entering homes looking for drugs to steal.

21 drug charges were laid over those two months, which is in line with last year’s figures.

Meantime, there were 195 motor vehicle collisions with 41 people injured.
