Lakers soccer and lacrosse teams have home field advantage this weekend

There’s plenty of local university lacrosse and soccer action this weekend.

The Nipissing lacrosse team has a pair of games at Veterans Field.

The Lakers will play Laurier Saturday at 1 pm and the University of Toronto on Sunday at 2 pm.

On the pitch, both Nipissing soccer teams are at home this weekend at the Education Centre after opening their seasons on the road.

They play Ryerson Saturday and the U of T on Sunday.

Game times for the women are noon each day and for the men 2:30 both days.

Meantime, the Nipissing Lakers Volleyball teams are putting on a “hunger spike” this weekend.

It’s a combination clinic on volleyball for students between grades 5 and 8 and a food drive for the Nipissing Student Food Bank.

The clinic will includes Lakers coaches and athletes providing coaching and mentorship.

It goes from 10 am to noon Saturday at the Robert J Surtees Athletic Centre with registration at 9:30 am.
