City-hall1City Council moves back to their regular schedule of meetings, with no committee meeting tonight.

The regular agenda includes a presentation from Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jim Chirico regarding the new Health Unit building.

Mayor Al McDonald says this is a much needed project.

He says 135 people would be working in the downtown core as part of the Health Unit and this allows them to combine their services under one roof.

As well, a report on the Operating Budget Outlook will be on the table and McDonald says they will see where the budget could be in four years’ time.

He says last year it started at just under 8% and this year it is sitting at 4% and around 3% the next three years.

McDonald says those are just the starting points to provide the same level of service year after year.

He says council will take these numbers and then go forward on what kind of service they want to provide.

A second scheduled presentation looks at the tax levy versus tax rate.
