Canada’s economy adds 12,000 jobs in August but the national unemployment rate rose by 0.2 percentage points to 7.0 per cent.

The agency says Canada’s unemployment rate was up because more people were looking for work.

Meantime, unemployment in the North Bay area is at 5.5 percent.

That’s down about four percent from August 2014.

The local figure includes the City of North Bay, Callander, Bonfield and East Ferris.
