Constable Fay 1 A North Bay Native has been sworn in to help protect his community.

Algonquin Secondary School Graduate – Constable Alexandre Fay is the newest member of the North Bay Police Service and he says it was his goal to serve in his home community.

Fay adds becoming a police officer is something he had always envisioned.

Police Chief Paul Cook says this was the 49th and final officer he will swear in as he will be retiring in January. He says police forces across the country are getting younger – and there are advantages to that.

Cook adds it helps to have people who know how to use social media as a way to connect with the public. He made a note during the swearing in ceremony today that becoming a Police Officer means you are held to a higher standard.

Cook added they expect all their officers to honor the badge.
