Energy East pipelineThe Ontario Energy Board says the environmental risks of the 12-billion dollar Energy East pipeline project outweigh its potential benefits.   In a report released on Thursday, , the board also warns the pipeline planned by TransCanada to bring Alberta crude eastward will drive up natural gas prices.    Following 15 months of consultations with those who live along the Ontario route of the pipeline including this area , the energy board says it found residents are worried about leaks.

O-E-B vice-president Peter Fraser says the top concern expressed was the risk of an oil spill as the pipeline runs near or across many waterways.    Trout Lake is one such example.

TransCanada says it will work with the Ontario government to address the concerns raised in the O-E-B report.  (The Canadian Press)
