election_175Prime Minister Stephen Harper spoke outside of Rideau Hall today, announcing that he has asked Governor General David Johnston to dissolve Parliament.

This means Canada will be having its longest election campaign in modern Canadian history and possibly, the most costly. Harper will begin his campaign later today in Montreal.  N-D-P Leader Tom Mulcair begins his campaign today in Gatineau, Quebec, while Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau is in Vancouver for that city’s Pride Parade.
