water rates committee

The size of the water pipe leading to your residence will determine what you pay for water.

That is what the Water Rates Special Review Committee has decided they will present to council in the coming weeks.

Chair George Maroosis says they are still working on some other details, but they will have a full proposal for council by September.

He says the committee is “getting close” to bringing a motion to council but they want to take a look at the impact on what they’ve decided.

He says they also will look at whether they can just start with the new system in January or do a phase in.

Maroosis says they have an opportunity to adjust rates on an annual basis.

He says billing for the size of the pipe allows for more of a fixed cost – while other costs, such as a filtration surcharge, is still being discussed.
