ontc-logo161 employees across northeastern Ontario have a new five year contract.

Ontario Northland and Teamsters Rail Conference Maintenance of Way Employees Division have announced the ratification of the new collective agreement.

Interim President and CEO of Ontario Northland Corina Moore says these employees do a lot for Ontario Northland.

Moore says the negotiations had been ongoing since March and this agreement is critical for both Ontario Northland and Teamsters Rail employees.

45 of the 161 Teamsters Rail members are from North Bay and surrounding areas.

This group is responsible for maintaining Ontario Northland’s rail infrastructure, including track, buildings and bridges along the rail line.

Officials say they can often be seen on the track, repairing crossings, tracks, signals, and more.
