Capital funding the focus of latest special review committee meeting

Infrastructure spending should be tied into the city’s rate of growth says Derek Shogren.

He is the Chair of the Long Term Financial Special Review Committee – and that is an idea they put on the table during their latest meeting.

Shogren says they need infrastructure spending to become more affordable and keep the tax rate low.

Shogren says that is what has happened the last couple of years, with council choosing to reduce this number to get to an acceptable tax increase. He says they want to implement policy’s that can be followed year after year instead of one year fixes.
