Hospice presentation

There are two groups in North Bay who are waiting for the Local Health Integration Network to review their cases for a Hospice.

Chris Winrow is the spokesperson for the North Bay Community Hospice group, and he showed Council their proposal last night (Monday).

He says they would have a facility built in an existing space at the North Bay Regional Health Centre – but he adds it would be completely separate from the hospital.

Winrow says they are already putting together fundraising efforts in case their plan is approved. He says they would need $700,000 a year from the community to operate.

Winrow says he believes that is doable, and the city can support it, although it will take a lot of work.
