Nipissing First Nation elects new chief

 The votes have been counted and Nipissing First Nations has elected their new Chief.

Scott McLeod received 372 votes – ahead of Doug Chevrier and Arnold May.

McLeod follows Marianna Couchie who decided not to run for re-election after nine years as Chief and three as Deputy Chief.

Muriel Sawyer received the most votes among those running for Councillor, and Sawyer is now the Deputy Chief.

Corey Goulais, June Commanda, Rick Stevens, Jason Laronde, Brian Couchie and Cathy Bellefeuille are the other Councillors.
