The Near North District School Board is holding community planning and partnership meetings this week, starting tonight (Monday) in North Bay.

The 3 meetings this week involve the Near North Board’s next step in its new capital planning process, before beginning any accommodation reviews.

The North Bay session goes from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm tonight at Woodland Public School on Cedargrove Drive (pictured).

Stakeholders and the public are invited to hear an overview on capital planning priorities, criteria for new partnerships involving the use of space in board facilities and more.

Meetings are also taking place Wednesday in Parry Sound and Thursday at Almaguin Highlands Secondary School in South River.

In a release, officials say the Board’s new capital planning process is intended to allow for maximizing the use of public infrastructure, reducing facility operating costs, strengthening relationships between school boards and community partners and the public, and improving supports available to students.

They also say potential new partnerships for consideration must be financially viable for the board.
