Downtown North Bay is all set to welcome the holiday season.

The 28th annual Old Fashioned Downtown Christmas Walk goes tonight (Friday).

The tree lighting at Main and Fraser kicks things off at 6 pm.

There’s North Bay Hydro bucket rides, horse and wagon rides, roasted marshmallows, music and much more.

Executive Director Jeff Serran says the community really comes out and supports the event.

“Having the bucket rides, we’ve been able to take pictures and do calculations, and in a three hour time period we average 10,000 people here in the downtown core,” he said.

Also part of tonight’s event, Cheapskates is hosting their annual rail jam on the 200 block of Main East too.

Roads will be closed starting at 1 pm, to allow for the event to set up.
