icamp picCanadore College’s ICAMP or Innovation centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Production received a big shot in the arm on Friday as the federal government contributed 870 Thousand dollars to their program. Canadore College president George Burton says ICAMP has been around for two years and is already having an impact and this money can only help. He says this money will enable ICAMP to purchase a 3-D metal printer as well as purchase new technology , perform product testing and robotics will be involved as well.

MP Jay Aspin who made the funding announcement says he’s been a believer in ICAMP since the beginning.

Aspin says the results of ICAMP are impressive and he says the government will continue to invest in ICAMP and make it more effective.

Aspin says Innovation through Manufacturing is the key for industries to grow and that’s where ICAMP comes in.

Burton says ICAMP’s original projections were to create 60 jobs in three years and that total has been reached in 1 year and this new money can only help ICAMP expand.
