Burton reacts to budget

Canadore College president George Burton says he is pleased with the provincial budget.

He says tuition is free for students who come from families who bring in less than 55 Thousand Dollars a year. 

He  says there’s also  an 83 Thousand Dollar ceiling and there are tuition breaks for students from those families and both of these changes make education more accessible. 

Burton says base funding is up by 1.4 per cent for the next 3 years to all Ontario colleges and there’s a 20 Million Dollar allotment for applied research. 

However, Burton says more funding is needed in one area.

He says Canadore hasn’t had any direct investment at any of the North Bay campuses since 2000 and he’s hoping that changes in next years budget.
