Battalion coach and 2 players get the call from Hockey Canada

(Photo by Terry Wilson/OHL Images) Hockey Canada has announced Canada’s National men’s summer under 18-team is being coached by Battalion bench boss Stan Butler.

Butler has coached national teams in the past, winning bronze with junior team in 2001 and silver in 2002.

He was also an assistant coach on the silver medal winning team in 1999.

Meantime, Butler won gold with Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team at the 1999 Four Nations Tournament, and gold as an assistant coach at the 1998 Three Nations Tournament.

He just wrapped up his 17th season with the Battalion, making him the longest tenured coach in the OHL.

Meantime, a couple of Battalion players have been named to Team Canada summer development camps in Calgary.

Forward Zach Poirier (pictured below) is taking part in the Under 18 selection camp while defenceman Brady Lyle was named to the Under-17 selection camp.

Meantime, Battalion assistant coach Ryan Oulahen, whose appointment was announced last month and athletic therapist James Borelli will also be at the Under-17 selection camp roster.
