NU_LAKERS_RGBThe Nipissing Lakers Men’s Hockey team have announced a couple new signings.

Forward Cody Gratton and defenseman Harrison Harper will play for the Lakers in the upcoming season.

Coach Mike McParland says with Cody’s speed and Harper’s aggressive playing, both players can contribute when they are on the ice.

Gratton played for the NOJHL’s Cochrane crunch before signing to the Lakers, where he scored 52 goals in 44 games.

The Sudbury product impressed Coach McParland, who said “Cody will bring us incredible speed, and we are hoping with a certain adaptation phase he will be able to score at our level as well”.

Meantime, Harper is a tough, stay-at-home defender who played for the Miramichi Timberwolves in the Maritime Junion A League the past two seasons.

The Calgary product put up 20 points and 109 penalty minutes with the Timberwolves.

McParland said. “With Harrison we have a big, puck moving defenseman that moves very well and enjoys playing very aggressive.”

Meantime the Nipissing Lakers Summer Hockey Camp is still looking for players between the ages of 9 and 11 as well as 12 and over, from July 6th to the 10th, and August 17th to the 21st.
