North Bay Police logoNorth Bay Police have cleared more crimes to date through April 2015,  compared to the same time a year ago.

Breaking down some of the numbers, they have cleared 17 sexual offences, 142 assaults and 74 drug charges.

Deputy Police Chief Shawn Devine says they have to take some of those numbers into context.

He says some of the crimes may actually take place a couple of months earlier and only get cleared in the month of the report, but he adds that shows the police service is still doing their job and clearing those cases.

Meantime, in the year to date crime figures, there were 25 assaults compared to 41 a year ago in the month of April, which represented the biggest decrease among the categories of crimes.

As well, there were 84 motor vehicle collisions with 8 people injured.
