A national award for Chippewa Secondary School Principal Lucio Pavone

He is the Coalition For Music Education of Canada’s Central Region National Principals of Music Award winner.

The award recognizes efforts made by principals in support of music education in schools.

Chippewa, meantime, will receive $1,500 for the school music program.

Pavone was nominated by current and former music educators.

Marla Sunstrum, who led the nomination process, says “Mr. Pavone made it his mission to make sure that the music program at Chippewa continues to be a great program for the students”.

In a release, officials say the Chippewa Secondary School Music program has experienced major growth in the past few years due to the addition of exemplary music educators such as Scott Barons who leads the intermediate music program along with Marla Sunstrum who provides music options for students at the secondary level.

The program at Chippewa is designed for students from Grade 7-12 with a strong emphasis on student involvement and participation while also supporting innovative Dance and Visual Arts program pathways for students at the school.
