It was a battle of the top two teams in the OHL’s Eastern  Conference Friday night and Oshawa would prevail 5-2 over the North Bay Battalion.

Troops forward Brett McKenzie scored 36 seconds into the game for the visitors, but the Generals scored the next four, en route to the win.

Daniil Vertiy also found the back of the net for the Battalion.

An empty net goal late in the third sealed the victory for the Generals.

North Bay is back on home ice tomorrow (Sunday) taking on Windsor.

The game will also feature the Troops annual Teddy Bear Toss.

 

At the Gold Cup hockey tournament in Waterloo, the North Bay Midget AAA Trappers played twice on Friday.

After a 5-1 loss to the Toronto Marlies, the Trappers shutout the Grey Bruce Highlanders 2-0.

North Bay has 2 wins and 1 loss at the tournament and wraps up round robin play against the Quinte Red Devils at 1:45 this afternoon.
