Stats Canada says the jobless figure in May was 7.2 per cent.

That’s up from May 2014’s mark of 4.4 per cent.

The standard error of the unemployment rate was 2.2 per cent.

Meantime, the employment rate is 54.1 per cent and that is down from last years mark of 67.3 per cent.

The figures include North Bay, Callander, East Ferris and Bonfield.

Around the northeast, unemployment is up slightly from 7.8 per cent 12 months ago to 7.9 per cent last month.

The employment rate was down a bit from 54.6 percent a year ago to 53.9 per cent last month.
