He played a key role in Oshawa’s Memorial Cup win on Sunday over Kelowna.

He says it was a great ride as they had to beat some great teams just to get to the Memorial Cup like North Bay in the Eastern Conference final, having to get by Connor McDavid in the OHL final and the battles during the Memorial Cup in Quebec. Appleby says the turning point may have been their loss in game 1 to the Battalion on home ice in the Eastern Conference Final.

After that game, the Generals would only lose twice more: Game 3 to North Bay and Game 3 to Erie in the OHL final.

He says the 10 days in Quebec City were unbelievable and a time he’ll never forget.

The Generals had a perfect Memorial Cup tournament, winning all 4 games including the final.

Appleby says he appreciates all the support he got from North Bay during the week.

He says North Bay is a great hockey town as the fans are showing by supporting him and by supporting the home town Battalion.
