GG study tour1“Innovation and Leadership” is the theme of the Governor General Canadian Leadership Conference Northern Ontario Study Tour, which is in North Bay until tomorrow (Tuesday).

The group is made up of people from all over Canada who have been identified as emerging dynamic leaders in a variety of sectors including business, labour, community and government.

Air Force test pilot Josh Kutryk works in Alberta.

He spoke with Mayor Al McDonald about the city’s strategy at becoming an aerospace centre.

Among the numerous stops on the tour, they visited Canadore College’s iCAMP facility and Good2Go.

He says while they’re all very different, there’s common ground between them.

One idea the group heard about, involving the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit and Good2Go, involves social media and an online forum for area youth, called Planet North.

Further details on that are expected in the coming months.

Overall, Kutryk says they’re looking at where people have developed innovative solutions and will be presenting to the Governor General at the end of the tour on Thursday.
