For the second consecutive year, a youth bowler from Partners bowling has qualified for the National Championship.

North Bay’s Liam Smith (pictured below) won silver in men’s singles at the Youth Challenge Provincial 5 Pin Bowling Championship over the weekend in Timmins.

He averaged 234.2 over five games to earn a berth to the national championship, which goes in Ottawa March 16-18, 2017.

There were 15 local bowlers ages 12 to 18 at the event competing against bowlers from as far away as Kenora.

Liam Smith, Noah Starcevic, Nicholas MacLean, Dylan Grant, coach Flipper Smith from North Bay and Keenan Malo from Haileybury captured a fourth place finish in the men’s division.

Kyrsten Tremblay, Thomas Williams, Tyrone Woodbury, Coach Barry Tremblay from North Bay, Zachary Eckensviller from Haileybury and Ryane Lafleur from Sturgeon Falls captured a Silver medal in the Mixed division. Williams missed a Nationals berth by only 14 pins.

Tessa Grant, Emma Starcevic, Coach Natasha Tremblay from North Bay, Felicity Eckensviller, Alexis Antler and Kayla Plante from Haileybury finished in fifth place in the Ladies’ division. Eckensviller earned a Gold medal in the Ladies singles and also captured a berth to the Nationals.
