The deputy chief of the North Bay Police Service recently represented a national police e-crime committee on a televised event.

Scott Tod says the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police want to help victims of cyber crime.

He says they’re not physically injured, but they are victims as they’ve been emotionally injured.

And it’s about what police and do to help and not so much about being more informed on the issue.

He says victims may not necessarily lose a lot of money in a scam but they have information compromised.

Tod also points out it isn’t easy to distinguish between something legit and someone Phishing.
