mobile cell phoneRover is a new phone App which could turn empty driveways into cash.

Rover allows people to notify other drivers that they can park in their driveways, for a max of two dollars per hour.

While the benefits can clearly be seen for people in larger urban areas – Mayor Al McDonald says it wouldn’t break any laws in North Bay.

Although McDonald says the logistics of the city may not fit for this app as there are no driveways downtown.

But what about congested areas, such as the streets near Memorial Gardens, especially when the Battalion are playing?

He says he’s not sure if there are that many driveways that you would notice a visual difference.

McDonald says if people in that area want to take advantage they are welcome to do so on one condition:  no parking on the lawn.

The City of North Bay says you can only use your driveway and not your lawn as a parking space.
