Three years after his initial request for Coroner’s Inquest into the deaths of nine young Ontarians in late 2011 and early 2012, MPP Vic Fedeli is again asking for a review.

In a letter to Ontario’s Chief Coroner, he points to new information coming to light in terms of the adequacy of provincial winter highway clearing efforts during that time period in the Auditor General’s Special Report on Winter Highway Maintenance.

He says between December 27, 2011 and January 3, 2012, three separate highway crashes on Northern Ontario highways resulted in the deaths of nine young people, all under the age of 20.

Fedeli says “I believe the families of the victims deserve to have answers, and Northerners need to have confidence in the safety of the provincial highways they travel on every day.”
